Dr Trudy Stewart grew up in country Queensland and initially studied a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy and later completed her Bachelor of Dental Surgery in 2004.
Trudy was awarded many prizes while studying her dental degree, including the Physics prize, Malcolm Joyner Prize, T Draper Campbell Medal and Prize and the Australian Society of Orthodontists Prize. Dr Stewart was recognised on the Dean’s List on completion of her undergraduate studies and received the prestigious Moore Medal for overall academic excellence and outstanding contribution as an undergraduate student.
Following five years of general dental practice, Dr Stewart returned to the University of Adelaide and undertook her Doctorate of Clinical Dentistry in Orthodontics. She graduated in 2013 with a Dean’s commendation for excellence for her research on dental ankylosis.
Since graduation, Dr Stewart has worked in both the public and private sectors in Adelaide and more recently in private practice in Perth. Dr Stewart is a member of the Australian Society of Orthodontists and a committee member of the Australian Society of Orthodontists Foundation for Research and Education, the peak body for orthodontic research and education in Australia. She regularly attends local, national and international conferences to keep at the forefront of orthodontic knowledge.
Outside of orthodontics, Dr Stewart is interested in health, fitness and travel and loves spending time with her friends and miniature dachshund, Harvey. She also donates prizes to Mulgildie State Primary School and Monto State High School; her former primary and high schools for the highest academic achievement in year 7 and year 11.
